Royal Joh. Enschedé launches Ciphers.me: platform for trading crypto stamps

Haarlem, 1 February 2023 – Royal Joh. Enschedéa global leader in postage stamp production, announces Ciphers.me, a platform for buying, collecting, and trading ‘crypto stamps’. These physical stamps have a digital twin Non-Fungible Token’ (NFT) that can be securely traded online through the use of blockchain technology.
With NFTs increasing in popularity, crypto stamp collecting is attracting a younger target group worldwide, making it a new and attractive market for postal organisations. For example: a special NFT stamp from PostNL, the Dutch postal organization, issued at € 9,05 was traded at € 800,00 within two months.
However, producing such a stamp and running a trading platform is not a core activity for postal organizations. It requires specific knowledge and digital resources.
That is why Royal Joh. Enschedé has partnered with Concordium and PROxID in developing a one-stop solution for postal organisations that want to create their own crypto-stamps. Ciphers.me provides the tools to design, print, encode, package, and sell stamps on a secure and user-friendly platform with low-cost transactions.
Gelmer Leibbrandt, CEO of Royal Joh. Enschedé: “Crypto stamps offer a whole new market for traditional stamp collectors, digital natives, and postal organisations. With Ciphers.me, postal organisations can get started quickly and easily and at lower costs.”
To introduce postal organisations to the Ciphers.me platform, Royal Joh. Enschedé has released a limited edition of sample crypto stamps. As part of a promotional campaign, these special stamps have been distributed to all postal organisations worldwide, offering them the opportunity to take advantage of a special rate and launch their own series of crypto stamps.
