A modern diploma process for educational institutions

Adriaan Kamphorst on Diploma Support

No diplomas falling into the wrong hands. That’s what Adriaan Kamphorst guarantees with Diploma Support. As part of Royal Joh. Enschedé, he ensures secure printing. Diploma Support takes it a step further. “We offer an optimally secure process for the entire diploma journey, from design and ordering to printing and delivery. The goal is to make the work of educational institutions easier, always within the safest possible framework.”

Diploma Support offers an all-in-one service platform for ordering, producing, and delivering diplomas for educational institutions. Every university, college, or vocational school is assured of a fraud-proof diploma process.

Time-consuming and sensitive diploma process

Adriaan explains: “As an educational institution, you’re constantly dealing with students graduating. They receive a diploma with a transcript and any additional supplements in a diploma folder. This process is often fragmented. Staff typically sign all diplomas manually, which is a time-consuming task. Other components, such as design, supplies, and printing, are also not centrally organized. Meanwhile, diploma issuance is a sensitive process that needs to be secured at every step.”

Automation, but still team-managed!

“With Diploma Support, we securely manage the entire process from one platform. The work for educational institutions becomes simpler, faster, and safer. The Diploma Support platform was developed based on the specific needs and requirements of higher education institutions. While this automated diploma process is entirely new, it does require some explanation. And of course, it’s still the people, our team, and the institutions themselves, who make all the decisions. The staff are the ones who place the orders, check, and receive the diplomas.”

Digital signatures

With an automated diploma process, you can sign all diplomas digitally at once. “That sometimes causes some resistance,” Adriaan explains. “Many examination boards feel it’s safer to sign by hand. However, a digital signature is always the same and thus harder to forge. In the printing process, we add various security features, such as microtext in the signature. Our digital signature process is approved by the Ministry of Education and DUO. It is more securely protected than traditional signatures. Plus, it saves a lot of work by not having to sign each one manually!”

Secured from start to finish

Combining all the tasks involved in diploma issuance is another advantage that is not yet widely offered in the market. “That’s because no one else can secure the entire logistical process,” Adriaan continues. “Some other printers also offer secure printing, but that doesn’t go beyond security features on the printed materials. At Diploma Support, security literally starts at the door. We have security personnel checking employees and other visitors to our secured printing facility every day. It’s crucial that no one can take valuable documents out. We do everything to prevent the documents from ending up on the streets. This also applies to the pre-printed documents, which are safely stored. Our long history in banknote printing helps with this, of course. Providing a secure infrastructure is in our DNA. Whether it’s stamps, banknotes, election printing, or diplomas, we are still in the high-security printing business. All our products require the highest level of security.”

Innovative high-security productions

To ensure these high-security productions, it’s necessary to stay up to date with innovations. Risks and security techniques can change. At Royal Joh. Enschedé, innovation is therefore a priority. “For instance, we’re working with new online techniques. Transforming valuable documents with digital capabilities. Nowadays, we even offer a cryptographic version of the stamp. We add various AI/VR techniques to banknotes. You’re constantly looking for ways to make productions more efficient and innovative with new applications. That’s why we now offer the all-in-one platform of Diploma Support.”

Collaboration with IT partner Prindustry

For automating the diploma process, Royal Joh. Enschedé collaborates with software partner Prindustry. “IT development and security are complex and require a specialist. Prindustry has developed all the elements of the diploma process into one platform. Authorized staff can order diplomas and accompanying documents through a user-friendly ordering system. The system links all the personal data, grades, and programs of the students. Before the files go into production at Joh. Enschedé, assigned staff can review them. We deliver the valuable documents via secure transport to the desired location. With this platform, staff from universities, colleges, and vocational schools have the ability to securely, efficiently, and easily order, produce, and send diplomas!”
